Hello, my name is Dustin Washburn. I'm an IT professional with decades of experience spanning technology support, systems development, and technical leadership. Over the course of my career, I've worked across diverse environments around the world, combining deep technical expertise with a strong curiosity for how technology intersects with people and creativity. Most recently, I founded Spark Integrity Ventures, LLC, a company focused on building and growing projects across a wide range of investments, from technology and digital media to emerging and experimental ideas. Beyond IT, I've played keyboard in local bands, taught courses in web design and communications systems, delivered presentations on AI tools and emerging technologies, and pursued hands-on passions including aviation, scuba diving, and audiobook narration. Whether building systems, mentoring teams, or exploring new disciplines, I'm driven by continuous learning and practical innovation.

Technology has been my profession, but music has always been part of who I am.
During my assignment in Namibia, I joined the cover band Disordered Departure as keyboard player and occasional vocalist. Performing live for audiences around Windhoek has been an unforgettable experience and a reminder that great performances – whether on stage or in the workplace – are built on preparation, trust, and teamwork.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. As often happens with life abroad, several of our amazingly talented band members had to move to different corners of the globe within a short period of time, bringing a touch of unintended prophecy to our band name.
Music continues to be one of the most rewarding creative outlets in my life, balancing a career centered on technology, cybersecurity, and international diplomacy.

Web Development
I've been building websites since the early days of the web and continue to enjoy designing experiences that balance clean aesthetics with practical functionality.
My recent work focuses on modern frameworks including React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Firebase, hosted on platforms such as Vercel. I enjoy creating websites that are responsive, fast, and easy to maintain while experimenting with interactive user experiences and AI-assisted development.

Narration
One of my lifelong goals has been to record professionally narrated audiobooks.
I enjoy storytelling, public speaking, and voice acting, and I've spent time developing my narration skills through recording, editing, and audio production. While still an evolving hobby, narration combines many interests I enjoy – technology, performance, communication, and lifelong learning.
Over time I plan to publish narration samples, character voices, and audiobook excerpts here.
Aviation
Flying has always fascinated me.
While serving overseas, I began working toward my Private Pilot License in Namibia, learning to fly the Sling 4 while gaining experience in navigation, radio communications, flight planning, and aircraft operations.
Aviation combines many of the same qualities that attracted me to engineering: precision, continuous learning, disciplined decision-making, and the confidence to solve problems under pressure.
My long-term goal is to continue flying wherever life and future assignments take me.

Photography
One of the greatest privileges of serving overseas has been experiencing extraordinary places and cultures.
I'm no professional photographer, but my amateur captures have become my way of preserving those experiences – from diplomatic events and cityscapes to wildlife, aviation, concerts, and everyday moments that tell the story of life abroad.
